When infection was initiated with Plasmodium blood-stage malaria, prior immunization against PMIF reduced the expression of IL-12 and IFN-γ, resulting in an increased number of Plasmodium-responsive CD4 T cell memory precursor cells, and an expansion of CD4 T cell effector memory and memory population.
In addition, the intensity of the CD38 expression was determined in the post-switch memory and plasmablast populations since this molecule was recently shown not to be constantly expressed within the populations [ 16, 17].
