Ifrah Foundation board member Mary McGuckian said: "Given that Somalia is at crisis level in so many areas after decades of war, it has been an amazing achievement by Ifrah getting this issue to the top of the agenda".
Councillor Richard Lewis, executive member responsible for city development, said: "Given that the Cardigan Centre is so well established we felt it was a great opportunity for the community to really take control of it".
