The council was set up in 1975 and now has some 2,300 member buildings.
And while Ms. Rothman's organization has about 1,400 buildings as members -- and has information about board members and officers of member buildings -- it is not the policy of the council to make such information public.
Member buildings can send a representative free by registering by Wednesday; the fee for additional attendees is $70 in advance and $100 at the door.
Mary Ann Rothman, executive director of the organization, said that for an initial fee of $400, and $175 a year thereafter, member buildings can have a basic Web site on the group's site, cnycsites.com.
For instance, G.E. is offering the National Association of Housing Cooperatives, based in Washington, either new G.E. dishwashers for $150, or $15 for a 15-minute rewiring for those of its 1,000 member buildings that own the recalled machines.
