The club will also award virtual swim team members virtual badges and discounts on Speedo merchandise once they reach certain levels of achievement.
When they reach certain point levels, members earn badges, which endow special status and privileges.
Each member received a badge that illustrated a combined compass point and spearhead.
By the end of the war the club had 9,000 members, and the badge had pride of place in both the Imperial War Museum and the Australian War Museum.
The additions, inspired by user feedback, include support for welcome posts, badges, member profiles and other admin-level controls.
For Companions, the emblem is gilt with a red enamel maple leaf in the central disk; for Officers, it is gilt with a gold maple leaf; and for Members, both the badge itself and the maple leaf are silver.
"It is deserving of the even-numbered badge," Ian Robertson, member of the BMW board, told BBC Autos after the car's official introduction on Monday in Detroit.
With the new badges, members will now be able to easily spot group admins, moderators and members who only recently joined the group.
