Annual income was categorized into three groups of equal size: low income group <3000 Yuan (RMB); medium income group 3000-7000 Yuan (RMB); and high income group >7000 Yuan (RMB).
Firstly, the sample group was divided into three groups: low-income group with an annual income less than 40,000 US dollars (92 individuals), medium-income group with an annual income of 40,000 US dollars or more but less than 80,000 US dollars (371 individuals), and a high-income group with an annual income of 80,000 US dollars or more (266 individuals).
In the low income group, this proportion was much higher than that in the medium and high income groups (Table 5).
Our previous study in western rural areas found that low income women were less likely to have five or more visits than women in the medium and high income groups in 2007 [ 13].
With the high income category as the reference group, the medium-high category has an odds ratio for less than good health of 1.72 (95% confidence limits 1.42 to 2.09), the medium-low income group of 2.48 (95% CI 2.03 – 3.03), and the low income group of 3.72 (95% CI 3.07 – 4.51).
They also point out that most people covered through the exchanges, at least at first, will be those with low and medium incomes, a group that is subsidized and therefore already subject to restrictions under the 1976 Hyde Amendment, which limits federal financing for abortion.
The last third was the medium income and expenditure group, with a monthly income > US$1100 (data not shown).
Lost to follow-up differed by ethnic group (Table 1) and by income; with 29%, 22% and 15% lost to follow up in the low (<£10,400), medium (>£10,400-£20,800) and high (£20,800+) income groups respectively.
Results from estimated random parameter models show that medium and low income group users are highly sensitive to increase in carbon cost for grocery (non-work) trips.
