Long-term studies have established Abnormal Savda as the main syndrome of patients with various diseases, such as malignant tumours, type 2 diabetes mellitus, neurodegenerative diseases, depression, and cardiovascular diseases conditions generally considered complex diseases in modern medicine (data not shown).
Focussed discussions with women who used herbal medicine in pregnancy and during labour and the postpartum period indicated that herbal medicine was generally considered cheaper, although some users found that herbal medicine could be costlier than Western medicine (data not shown).
None of these factors were found to be independent predictors of substandard medicines (data not shown).
It covered four categories: (1) status of cancer treatment and use of Kampo medicines, (2) cancer cachexia and utilization of Kampo medicines (data not shown), (3) adverse side effects of anti-cancer drugs and utilization of Kampo medicines, and (4) background variables.
