As compared with those engaged in litigation, participants who engaged in mediation reported that they reached higher-quality agreements, as measured by how tailored, fair, comprehensive, and clear the agreement was.
There were significant differences across time for all patients; but both patients who had diagnosed shoulder problems and those on pain mediation reported higher pain and disability scores on the SPADI at all time points.
Examples of these approaches include offering financial assistance, debt advice, help to stay in a tenancy or family mediation, the report said.
A recent example of sequential mediation is reported in a study on mediators of multisystemic therapy outcomes for adolescents with externalizing problems (Deković et al. 2011).
