Recently, several mediation analysis studies have supported a causal relationship between increased mindfulness and positive health outcomes [ 24, 38, 50] and this finding will be tested in a two-year follow-up of our study.
Therefore, after comprehensively adjusting for comorbid conditions, adipose tissue, muscle size, and physical function, we hypothesized that risk differences among BMI categories would be minimal and that this conclusion would be supported by mediation analysis.
While our analysis of colour change supported this as a potential mechanism, our study was not designed to support a formal mediation analysis.
However, the sample sizes used in the current study were not sufficient to support the formal mediation analysis, which would be required to test this proposal.
Again gender was supported using moderated mediation analysis such that men engaged in more deviant behaviors in response to family-to-work conflict.
Our interpretation is supported by our mediation analysis that showed that the effects of inflammation on resting diastolic blood pressure were mediated via a shift in LF/HF ratio.
This interpretation was supported further by mediation analysis, which showed that inflammation induced changes in right parahippocampal glucose metabolism (T1 and T2) Montreal Neurological Institute (24, −21, −32) that significantly mediated effects of inflammation on object-location memory (T1 and T2 accuracy) (Goodman test = 3.58 [SE.74], p <.00035).
In addition, results of the mediation analysis confirmed the mediating role of waist circumference in the association between birth weight and sedentary time (a × b path; B: 1.74; 95% bCI: 1.26, 2.30) and supported partial mediation (c′ path; B = 2.92, P = 0.11).
The results were analyzed with a path analysis-based moderated mediation analysis to determine whether the hypotheses were supported.
The present results do not support this notion because muscle strength did not attenuate risk estimates and mediation analysis did not indicate a significant mediating effect of gait speed.
