The stock media phrase "real 'Roy of the Rovers' stuff" is often used by football writers, commentators and fans when describing displays of great skill, or results that go against the odds, in reference to the dramatic storylines that were the strip's trademark.
When the super-wealthy Prokhorov arrived to charm the news media with phrases like "I come in peace," he was potentially viewed as a major recruiting asset, a Russian Mark Cuban.
Then there is Representative Kristi Noem, who arrived from South Dakota with expectations and a media buzz phrase ("The new Sarah Palin!") and was immediately installed as a leader of her class.
