By measuring the accuracy of categorization at different eccentricities from the fixation point, we were able to determine the spatial extent and the distribution of accuracy over the FA, as well as the speed of categorizing objects using stimulus onset asynchrony (SOA).
The dependent measure was the categorization responses to the Thai tones by the various language speakers.
However, if one uses semantic similarity measures for the categorization of genes into groups of interest, one has to consider that categorization is not about predicting how close two terms are but assessing how well two terms go together.
Our study implies that current measures for the categorization of different forms of childhood arthritis, which largely rely on clinical symptoms, physical joint examination, and laboratory results, are insufficient in the early discrimination of different forms of childhood arthritis.

In this perspective, handedness indices provide a more complete measure of manual asymmetries than the categorization as left-hander or right-hander, as they indicate both the strength and the direction of hand preference (see Fig. 1 for an example).
This test requires a strategic search mechanism to retrieve information from semantic memory and is used to measure categorization abilities.
