Wound distances were measured and averaged from three points per wound area as a baseline width, and the width of the mean wound distance was calculated.
The average wound width was measured between the two lines representative of cell migration determined by the mean of the furthest and the nearest cells at the leading edge.

The area of the hyperproliferative wound epithelium, the wound width, and the percentage of wound closure were determined using the Openlab 3.1.5 software (Improvision Ltd., Basel, Switzerland).
