The vertical structure of the axisymmetrical mean specific humidity showed that the specific humidity was highest around the center of the typhoon below 1,250 m, whereas it was highest at approximately 50 km from 1,250 to 3,000 m (Figure 15a).

In this work, specific humidity was used instead of PET and a new aridity index (Iq) has been defined using the ratio of annual precipitation totals and annual mean specific humidity (Sh).
Figure 2 shows the mean potential temperature and specific humidity profiles for the field campaign.
Changes in the latent heat flux within the inner core led to changes in the axisymmetrical mean equivalent potential temperature, the specific humidity, and the radial wind velocity.
The annual averaged values of daily mean solar radiation, air temperature, specific humidity and annual amount of precipitation were 145 Wm-2, 7.7°C, 5.4 kgkg-1 and 2256 mm, respectively (Fig. 3).
Statistical downscaling involves a technique in which a linear transfer fucntions between meso-scale atmospheric predictors variables of GCM (e.g. mean sea level pressure, geo-potential height, specific humidity etc).
This means that 1% of the meteorological conditions (temperature, winds, surface pressure, specific humidity, surface wind stress, latent, sensible heat flux, etc).
In ASM regions, where the climatological mean vertical motion is upward, the area mean precipitation, P, can be expressed as: P = {alpha}Mq, (1 where M is the upward mass flux at cloud base, q is the specific humidity at cloud base, and α is a scale factor representing the bulk precipitation efficiency, defined as rainfall per unit moisture flux at cloud base.
The specific humidity is an extremely useful quantity in meteorology.
The specific humidity is horizontally averaged over the tropics (30°S 30°N).
