The first method calculates the ratios of the means: "Mean test) vs Mean(ref)" method.
It took few seconds to generate all cell-specific transcriptomic fingerprints based on the "Min test) vs Max ref)" method, while it took about 2 h to generate all the fingerprints using the "Mean test) vs Mean(ref)" method based on 1000 permutations, on a personal computer having a 2.4 GHz dual core i7 processor and 8 GB of RAM memory allocated.
