The CCR5-2132C→T variant was significantly associated with variable placental expression of CCR5 (Table 1), where carriers of the T variant displayed lower placental expression of CCR5 (mean log %change = 5.53, range = −1.61, 9.40) compared to non carriers (mean log %change = 5.87, range = 1.95, 14.55).
The CCR5-2554 G→T variant was also significantly associated with a lower expression of CCR5 (mean log %change for T allele = 5.69, range = −1.61, 9.91; mean log %change for G allele = 5.77, range = 1.95, 14.55), although this finding was not statistically significant in the analysis of high vs. low expression (Table 1).
The mean and SD of the log %change in gene expression relative to GAPDH expression was 5.83 (SD = 1.39), 4.63 (SD = 0.83), and 5.74 (SD = 2.02), for HS3ST3A1, HS3ST3B1, and CCR5, respectively.
Dependent variable in all regression is mean log wage change of demographic group in state.
We now compute changes in mean log wages, ∆S ist, ∆D ist, and ∆I ist separately for each major state or group of adjacent states.12 Our "data set," therefore, consists of 448 = 2 × 2 × 8 × 14 observations for 2 decadal intervals, 2 sectors (rural/urban), 8 demographic groups, and 14 states.
The linear associations between exposure concentration and mean log(EXT), mean log(TOF) or time to change points were tested for significance using standard regression tests (F-tests; [37]).
In order to look at the overall changes in yeast diauxic shift, the scores for reactions were left as mean log fold-changes of gene transcription.
A list of genes in central carbon metabolism that are involved in the regulated response to diauxic shift (identified in [ 13]) and the reactions for which they encode enzymes, along with their inferred transcriptional changes (Value, mean log fold-change).
The fold-change is initially calculated as an antilog of a mean log fold-change over all possible between-chip comparisons contributing to the disease vs. control comparison after RMA normalisation.
In brief, the AMBIENT method works as follows (for further details see [ 30]: i. A bipartite network containing reaction nodes linked via metabolite nodes is used ii. Scores are assigned to each reaction (calculated as the mean log fold-change of genes associated with that reaction) iii.
A compilation of the MA plots comparing the magnitudes of change (log fold change) to the mean log expression level for the same sample labeled by each kit is given in Figure 6.
