The spread is defined as the difference between the mean lateral positions (measured between 55 and 75 cm from the start) of the trajectories observed in the plateau- and steep-gradient tests.
Unfortunately, then the trap snaps; the authors then claim that this position is different from that in the rodent since LEC means lateral and MEC means medial.
