This group of nine children (Table 2) did not show a significantly different (p = 0.49/0.69; t-test/Wilcoxon; two sample tests performed separately) mean micronucleated lymphocyte frequency compared with the pre-treatment mean of our study group.
This reduction can be attributed to a drop in the levels of MDSCs with ProSense-680 activity (mean frequency 0.56% as compared to 4.46%; P = 0.0085, n = 6, unpaired t test with Welsh correction, Fig. 5c).
Among patients diagnosed with rotavirus or Salmonella spp. infections, those with co-infections reported a significantly higher mean frequency of stools when compared to patients with single infections of the respective pathogen (12 vs. 4, p = 0.04; 12 vs. 6; p < 0.05).
If GC-rich sequences are associated with stronger selection/BGC in favour of GC, we would expect to see GC variants present at a higher mean frequency in this category, compared with the medium and low GC content categories (Galtier et al. 2006).

As shown in Figure 3D, in slices treated with 10 µM UCB for 24 h (0.9±0.2 Hz, n = 5; p<0.05) or 48 h (0.6±0.3 Hz, n = 6; p<0.05), the mean frequency of mEPSCs was significantly reduced compared with the control slices (1.5±0.2 Hz, n = 8).
