The mean age was 42 ± 11.5 years with a mean duration of diabetes of 23.9 ±15.5 years, mean BMI of 27.7 ± 6.2 kg/m, mean basal infusion rate of 1 ± 0.3 units/h, and a mean HbA1c of 7.5 ± 0.9% (58 mmol/mol).
Mean basal metabolic rates decrease progressively and adaptively southwards 1.03 > 0.86 > 0.85 > 0.62 for 2 n = 52, (58, 58), and 60, respectively (Nevo and Shkolnik 1974).
Mean basal insulin secretion rate prior to leptin initiation was 324 ± 153 pmol/m/min (±SD), and basal insulin secretion rate adjusted for age and insulin sensitivity (OGIS) was not significantly different after leptin replacement (345 ± 254 pmol/m/min, P = 0.10).

The phase 1 mean ± SD number of pump-setting (basal rate and insulin-to-carbohydrate ratio) changes was greater in the algorithm group than in the no algorithm group (12.7 ± 11.6 vs. 6.3 ± 6.5 changes; P = 0.0164) and was similar in adults and adolescents (11.3 ± 11.3 vs. 7.1 ± 6.8; P = 0.14).
The mean increase was 26.9% in relation to basal rate.
These four species have higher growth rates and also a greater variation of growth rates, ranging between about 5 and 9 cmeanear mean basal area increment.
Thus, the mean ± standard deviation rate of insulin secretion increased from a basal rate of 0.165 ± 0.059 ng/10 islets/min to a stimulated rate of 0.422 ± 0.095 ng/10 islets/min (P <.05, n = 3), when the glucose concentration was changed from 5.5 mmol/L to 27.5 mmol/L, and this glucose stimulation index was not different from that observed with unencapsulated islets under same conditions.
The second cluster includes the remaining five species which have a smaller maximum size and lower rates of growth ranging between about 2 and 3.5 cmeanear mean basal area increment.
The mean basal area of the studied forests was 34 m2 ha–1.
