From each study, the following data was extracted: first author, year of publication, type of study, classification of IUA, the number of participants, mean age, stage of adhesion, surgical techniques of adhesiolysis, type of IUD, duration course of IUD, ancillary treatment used (hormone therapy, Foley catheter, hyaluronic acid gel, and amnion graft), and complications.
The two groups did not differ with regard to mean age, FIGO stage, tumor diameter, and histology.
Of 95 patients with stage II (n=33) or IIIA (n=62) disease, 48 were assigned to group C and 47 to group D, with no significant difference between them in sex, mean age, performance status, T stage, N stage, pathologically determined disease stage, histologic type, or DNA pattern (Table 1).
There were also no significant differences regarding mean age, gender, or stage between patients with HPV-positive and HPV-negative tumors.
The median ages at thelarche for each study population, even the Bangladeshi girls, were markedly earlier than the mean age at breast stage 2 (11 years) first reported for British girls in the classic Marshall and Tanner study [ 9].
As with HCC studies, the magnitude of the effect of SVR on mortality risk varied considerably between studies, which may be attributable in part to differences in patient characteristics such as mean age and disease stage prior to treatment.
The discriminatory peaks in this study also differ from our earlier work in which serum samples were fractionated prior to SELDI (Poon et al, 2003) and again this may be due to the greater mean age and earlier stage of HCC progression in the patients used in our current work.
Thus, there was no significant difference in the adjusted mean age of patients with stage IB versus stage IA tumours even though stage IB tumours were on average 2.5 cm diameter larger than IA tumours (table 4).
Comparisons were made there between NFT stage 0 and the other stages (the mean age of death did indeed increase with stage), but comparisons were not made within the columns for each stage between the cases with and without Aβ deposits.
