To assess the models' goodness of fit in an objective manner, the following statistical parameters are chosen: mean absolute standard error (MASE), average percentage relative error (r%), sum of squared relative error (s 1), sum of logarithmic deviation error (s 2), and root mean square error (RMSE).
Mean absolute standard error.
For each axis, Expression was detected as the main source of variation among genes on the axis when the mean absolute standard score for the 40 highly expressed genes was >1.644854 (an interval in which theoretically only 5% of all protein genes are included).
The predictive capabilities of the two methodologies were compared in terms of root mean square error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE), standard error of prediction (SEP), model predictive error (MPE), chi square statistic (χ2), and coefficient of determination (R2) based on the validation data set.
We discovered that the temporal change in microbial communities of the skin of the head allowed us to estimate PMI within as little as 3.30 +/− 2.52 days (mean absolute error +/− standard deviation).

The ANN model predicted the outlet water temperature with a MAE (mean absolute error) of 1.31%, whereas the standard one dimensional model showed a MAE of 9.42%.
