At this point it should be expressly stated that the maximum values of forces shown in the charts are identical with the end of numeric calculations, namely, achieving the maximum efficiency by all the muscles included in computer simulations.
For each modelled root distribution, the force-displacement behaviour of the root bundle was calculated under tension, and the maximum value of force was used to characterise the lateral root reinforcement.
