Towards the western extremity of the plain, the basin "D1" evolves to a deep depression "D2" where the shallow and main aquifers' bottom reach their maximum depths, respectively, 51 and 200 m depth.
We used two small experimental lakes (PPH and CPH) with similar characteristics (3.3 and 4.1 ha respectively, maximum depth for both lakes is 18 m) located adjacent to each other in south-central BC, Canada (49°50′ 49°56′N, 120°33′ 120°34′W; Fig. 2).
The area and shoreline of the lake is 6.87 ha and 2354 m, respectively, the average depth and maximum depth are 2.42 and 6.00 m, respectively, it plays an important role especially in the local eco-sustainability and social values.
Lake Biwa, central Japan, is an ancient lake that is estimated to date back more than four million years [12] [14], and the largest lake in Japan (surface area 670 kmeanmeandand maximum depth, 41 and 104 m, respectively).
