These studies revealed that there was no significant difference in the maximum depth penetration of microparticles when compared to nanoparticles: maximum depths recorded were 50 ± 11 µm and 31 ± 6 µm for micro and nano-particles respectively (n = 6 transfections for each; not significantly different, Students t-test, p > 0.05).
