For each cytoarchitectonic region, the AAL masks were overlaid over each participant's spatially transformed tracking data to obtain a maximum connectivity value (ranging from 0 to 10,000), between each cytoarchitectonic seed region and all areas of the brain.
Otherwise, the route with the maximum connectivity is selected, as given by (3).
For each participant, the maximum connectivity values for each hemisphere across all ROIs and AAL brain regions were used to determine the distribution of connection values for that hemisphere between the SMG and all other (ipsilateral) areas of the brain.
