Further categorization by branch order, vessel size, and maximum depth of arteriole descent will be necessary before and after targeted occlusions.
For each tree the ratio of maximum branch diameter measured to the mean of measured branch diameters was calculated.

Phylogenetic trees were constructed by the neighbor-joining facility in ClustalX 1.83 [ 63] and the branching order verified for maximum parsimony with the Protpars program in the PHYLIP software suite [ 64].
