The natural polyanion spermidine can extend the chronological and replicative life span in yeast and increase the median and maximal longevity of fruit flies and nematodes (C. elegans).
Data on the following life-history traits were obtained: maximal fish size, female fecundity and maximal longevity [ 46, 49, 50].
