The maximal dry cell weight of 19.53 ± 0.13 g/L obtained at an initial yeast extract concentration of 25 g/L was higher by 40.9% compared to that at 10 g/L.
By continuously feeding glycerol, NH4Cl, and l-tryptophan at a constant feeding rate of 16 mL h−1, the final concentration of violacein reached 4.13 g L−1, which was 4.09-fold higher than the corresponding batch culture, and the maximal dry cell weight (DCW) and average violacein productivity obtained for the fed-batch culture were 3.34 g DCW L−1 and 82.6 mg L−1 h−1, respectively.
Neutral lipid contents were found to increase with the induction of salt stress, reaching a maximal content of 8.3% (dry weight) for the cultures grown at 1% salt concentration.
The maximal increases in the dry weight, the total lipid content, and the lipid productivity were up to 5.17 g L-1, 354 mg g-1 of dry weight, and 182 mg L-1 day-1, respectively, by a 200 μg L-1 dosage of choline.
This transformant accumulated mainly water-soluble CGP to a maximal amount of 0.5% dry weight of the biomass (Table 4).
The specific growth rate and dry weight were maximal in mixotrophy with glycerol, being 0.54 h−1 and 223.25 mg L−1, respectively, while the specific growth rate and dry algal weight of the phototrophic culture were, respectively, 0.47 h−1 and 106.75 mg L−1.
In horses after intermittent maximal exercise lactate concentrations of the middle gluteal muscle may increase up to 200 mmol/kg dry weight, but in other maximal exercise tests values around 100 mmol/kg dry weight have been reported [ 64, 60, 72].
