This includes investigating to what extent the experimental uncertainties, pore network modeling, and matrix elastic properties influence the model's predictions.
From the inverse of the Hessian matrix, elastic properties, and some optical phonon frequencies at the Brillouin zone center can be estimated.
This implies that the "extra" mineral is not mechanically contributing to matrix elastic properties.
The mechanical measures were however limited to measures of the Vicker's micro-hardness, which provides no information on the bone matrix elastic properties.

We have previously described the TM using the simplest model of anisotropy, the transversely isotropic model, in which there is a single family of parallel fibers embedded in a matrix whose elastic properties are the same in any direction perpendicular to the fibers [16] (Fig. 1).
We simulate cellular mechanisms including cell adhesion, growth, and division and diffusion of morphogens, to show that differential adhesion between the cells, diffusion of growth factors through the extracellular matrix, and the elastic properties of the apical ectodermal ridge together can produce the proper shape of the limb bud.
For a composite with thin interface layers between inclusions and the matrix, the effective elastic properties and the effective conductivity (thermal or electric) are almost unaffected by the layers, provided (1) the layer thickness is much smaller than the inclusion sizes and (2) the contrast between the properties of the layers and either of the phases is not overly high.
We used 3-point bending to estimate whole bone elastic modulus, quantitative backscattered electron microscopy (qBSEM) to quantify the amount of bone matrix mineral, nanoindentation to measure the bone matrix elastic and plastic properties, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) to examine the apatite crystals size and organization.
For example, elastin and collagen fibers form the main structural components of pulmonary connective tissue matrix, but their elastic properties are markedly different; the elastic modulus of collagen fibrils is in the region of 1200 megapascals (MPa), whereas that of elastin is closer to 1 MPa (Sherratt et al., 2003; Akhtar et al., 2009a).
Computational micro-mechanics is employed in this work to evaluate effects of fiber-matrix interface damage on the elastic properties of polymer matrix composites with continuous glass fibers.
"Brittle" (low failure strain) behavior occurs when the matrix cracking stresses are sufficiently high; the composite fails during the matrix cracking regime of deformation and at a strain that is controlled by the matrix flaw population and elastic properties.
