In a recent study, the independent association between excessive extracellular matrix turnover and poor outcome in patients with HF was reported and this was particularly true for the serum collagen marker PIIINP (N-terminal type III collagen peptide) [ 19].
This reduction in tensile strength was correlated with the increased viscosity of the matrix and consequently poor wetting of the PP fabric at reduced processing temperature.
