Physicians' interest in profits, schedule planning, defensive medicine and possible maternal wishes have been reported as common reasons for non-medically indicated C-sections in many middle- and low-income countries [ 4, 7– 10].
In the past decades, the C-section rate has increased rapidly in many developing countries, mostly in Latin America and some in Asia, largely due to non-medical factors such as physicians' interest in profits, schedule planning, defensive medicine and possible maternal wishes [ 4, 7– 10].
