When the embryonic lack of maternal Manf was rescued by paternal wild type gene expression, the transcriptome changes were evident but restricted to a smaller number of genes than changes caused by the complete lack of Manf.
The maternal, wild-type allele appears to be identical in both cell populations.
There were no significant differences between maternal HFE H63 D variants and maternal wild-type individuals.
The six seedlings that showed normal green leaves had the genotype of the maternal wild-type chloroplast genome, namely the 177-bp PCR product (Fig. 5b).
The 11 seedlings that showed chimeric leaves had the genotypes of both the paternal Wogon-Sugi and the maternal wild-type: both the 196- and 177-bp PCR products were present (Fig. 5c-i, ii, iii).

In the family with the synonymous variant p. Ala402= the heterozygous father expressed only the C allele in blood cDNA, while the affected child expressed only the maternal wild-type G allele (Fig 2C).
Fig 1c shows that agouti F1 female mice contained both the mutant (paternal) and wild type (maternal) hprt alleles.
For example, crosses between a hypomethylated maternal genome and wild type paternal genome lead to increased seed size, whereas the reciprocal crosses lead to reduced seed size [ 11, 68, 69].
In addition, it is also possible that maternal deposition of wild type transcripts and proteins in the egg could rescue early embryonic phenotypes.
While this is technically difficult to investigate, the influence of these different genetic backgrounds on observed behavioral differences between maternal deletion mice and wild type littermate controls is probably minimal.
