The 2G material (wheat straw) used in the experiments was obtained from Johan Håkansson Lantbruksprodukter (Lunnarp, southern Sweden).
In order to test how this induction on lactose would compare to a complex lignocellulosic material – wheat straw, which not only contains cellulose but also xylans but with very little galactose side chains (< 0.1%; [ 11]) – we compared the transcriptome under both conditions.

Accuracy was confirmed by analysis of a standard reference material for wheat flour (NIST 1567a), which had certified concentrations of 14.1 ± 0.5 mg kg−1 for Fe and 40 ± 2.0 mg kg−1 for Mg, and the concentrations found using proposed method were 13.7 ± 0.3 mg kg−1 for Fe and 40.8 ± 1.5 mg kg−1 for Mg.
A certified reference material of wheat was subsequently analyzed by LC-MS/MS, ELISandand ELISA after MycoSep™ 226 clean-up [ 24].
