"mate off" is not a correct and usable phrase in written English.
It would not make sense in most sentences. In written English, one would instead use the phrase "part ways" or "split up" to indicate that two people (or things) are separating. For example: "The two of them had been inseparable for years, but after the argument they decided to part ways."
