For this case, we attempt to match the outputs of our simulator to the data reported for the following patient variables - PO2, PCO2, deadspace, shunt, mean and standard deviation of V̇ and Q, and ventilation-perfusion distribution across a number of ranges (see Table 2).
Using this approach, we are able to achieve extremely close matches between the simulator and a range of patient data including PaO2, PaCO2, pulmonary deadspace fraction, pulmonary shunt fraction, and ventilation/perfusion (V̇/Q) curves.
The correlation functions of such channel simulators match the correlation functions of measured channels accurately over a wide range determined by the length of the measured data.
