Massive, graded, and parallel beddings, iron oxide spots, and shells are common, and there is a lack of tide-influenced sedimentary structures.
The deposits are characterised by a thickness as great as 40 cm, with variable locations of the areas of maximum accumulation (but often not next to the shoreline) and basal sharp contacts, frequent massive, normally graded or laminated layers and general landward fining of the tsunami deposit grain size.
We recommend early treatment with thawed FFP in patients with massive bleeding (Grade 1B).
We recommend that ionised calcium levels be monitored during massive transfusion (Grade 1C).

The lithotypes and depositional modes are: tephras (volcanic airfall); organic-rich mud (algal-rich lake sedimentation); massive to weakly graded, brown silty clay beds (homogenites and redeposited lake sediments); grey, graded sandy mud beds (intense storm-delivered sediment); and, thin yellow clay layers (run-off from small storms).
