Adjustment for height was to normalise fat mass for stature, and height squared was used as there is evidence of a non-linear relation between fat mass and height.
Participants were assessed using DXA and were classified as sarcopenic using two different approaches to adjust lean mass to body size: appendicular lean mass divided by height squared (aLM/ht) and appendicular lean mass adjusted for height and body fat mass (residuals).
