In accordance with evidence supporting proto-oncogenic properties of PTTG [26], hyperplastic pre-tumorous pituitary glands derived from transgenic animals were shown to already express markers of increased pituitary proliferation as evidenced by increased BrdU incorporation (Figure 4A ), and elevated levels of pro-proliferative proteins including PCNA and E2F1 in vivo (Figure 4B).
