Two selected polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs --1-NP-and antibenzo[a]PAHs --1-NP-and8-dihydrodiol-9,10-ePAHs --1-NP-andDE]-DNA adducts--were used as marker comPAHs --1-NP-andcterizing the PAHs --1-NP-and antibenzo[a]pyrene-trans-7,8-dihydrodiol-9,10-epoxidechromatography (HPLC).
The markers were informative in characterizing intra-specific variation in some species.
However, because of PCR-based analytical methods, these markers have low sensitivity in characterizing samples that contain DNA from several contributors in very different proportions.
These markers may be useful in characterizing genetic diversity and relatedness of boxwood germplasm, which could aid in our overall objective of developing blight-tolerant varieties.
