They have identified eight key marginal university towns which have a big student vote that hasn't been exercised before and, more importantly, ones that are target Labour seats.
It's only marginal figures – the town busybody, the "skinny Polish girl" who works in the local shop – whose lives proceed in a relatively unruffled fashion.
