In 1994, the Fédération Internationale de Football Association FIFAA) established its Medical Assessment and Research Centre (F-MARC) with the aim 'to prevent football injuries and to promote football as a health-enhancing leisure activity, improving social behaviour'.
Laurel city officials and residents have recently expressed concern that the Laurel Park station is aiming to replace the city's MARC station, located 2,500 feet to the south on Laurel's historic Main Street.
This is toward the aim of being able to create BIBFRAME descriptions directly, without having to create MARC records first.
The program, called Universal Bibliographic Control and International MARC, aims to encourage national libraries, or groups of libraries, to institute methods of recording their national publications in a standard format and, wherever possible, of entering them into computer files.
