Nokia has made its maps and satnav app available in beta form for free.
Wildlife Trusts' Nature Finder (Free) Now something for people travelling around the UK in search of the local fauna: an app from the Wildlife Trust with maps and lists of its nature reserves and events – more than 2,000 places and 10,000 events a year – to help you explore the countryside.

Now it's back and completely revamped: a slick maps and navigation app that gives Apple and Google's offerings a run for their money – especially with its offline feature.
Handset makers generally struggle to make profit, even in China where hardly any use Google's services, instead using the open-source Android Open Source Platform (AOSP) and offer (and monetise) their own maps, search and app download services.
But the king of travel sites is the oldest and best: Google Maps.
They came by letter, email and telephone, scribbled on postcards or yellowed prewar foolscap, transcribed from cassette recordings of Suffolk longshoremen made half a century ago, or taken from hand-sketched maps of Highland hill country and island coastlines.
The location of empty spaces, overlaid on Google maps, will be visible on the Milton Keynes website, along with data about which car parks are filling up or emptying.
Meanwhile in Islamic maps of around the same period, south was up.
These maps of Africa, drawn up by a small group of western cartographers, symbolically reinforced Europeans' sense of control over their mapped territories and subjects, but they didn't betray much in the way of real information.
This diversity faded away, however, as one particular model gradually surpassed all the others to become the world map that is now ubiquitous on classroom walls, in books and now even on Google Maps.
