With that said, it's easy to see why Amazon's acquisition of UpNext, a 3D-mapping start-up, would allow it to have it's own mapping app that could be used to drive new revenue sources.
In fact, rapid advances in brain-mapping and neurology that could allow scientists to predict who is more likely to commit aggressive, anti-social or even criminal acts are already causing scientists to grapple with ethical questions involving law, forensics and civil liberties.
Several descriptive statistics were selected to serve as measures of probe- and mapping-specific properties that could conceivably influence probe expression [ 25- 28].
To better understand the bias toward the reference allele and the amount of this bias that could be attributed to read-mapping, we simulated 1.8 million 35 bp reads.
Fine-mapping multiple targeted QTL regions requires a large number of molecular markers that could be used to narrow down the regions and pinpoint candidate genes or target markers associated more closely with traits.
To improve the quality of the mate pair mappings, we filter the mappings so that we only keep mappings that are consistent with other mate pairs mapping to approximately the same location.
Therefore, we restrict the solution space to a set of mappings that are plausible, that is, mappings that have been observed experimentally (Fig. 2B ).
This shows that our filter achieves what it intended to achieve, that is, to remove almost all mappings that we know to be false (e.g., mappings to chromosome Y in a female cell-line) while removing few other mappings.
However, we seek to improve on the false negatives the accurate mappings that have low quality and the false positives the inaccurate mappings that have high quality.
Finally, the set of manually assigned mappings is obtained from the PPDMs resource and used to override mappings that have been assigned by the default procedure.
