The total small RNA reads and genome-mapping statistic data (Supplementary information, Table S1) showed an abundance of small RNAs carried by mature sperm.
Data were subjected to quantile normalization and RPKM (reads per kilobase (kb) per million mapped reads statistic (RPKM = total exon reads mapped/ mapped reads in millions × exon length in kb)) for each annotated gene (10,175 genes) were calculated.
