Energy-filtered TEM (EFTEM) mapping of cross-section images and argon ion sputter depth profiling XPS analysis revealed both a broad intermixing between the Ti and Pd layers and an extensive inter-diffusion of Si from the substrate into the film bulk area.

Figure3b depicts an EDS mapping of a cross section of the Ti grid of the selected sample (at TA = 400°C), where the distribution of elements is presented using the lock-in energy of Ti-Kα (4.3 to 4.7 keV), O-Kα1 (0.4 to 0.6 keV), and Zn-Lα (0.8 to 1.2 eV), respectively.
Figure 7 presents the top and base, thus the geometry, of the Buntsandstein aquifer mapped using conceptual models in the form of cross sections for Luxembourg by Schintgen and Förster (2013) and LGB and LUWG (2010) and Wagner and Dittrich (2010) for Germany.
Generation of cross sections: A curved line was mapped to fit an axial CBCT section of the maxilla and mandible.
The creator, Damon Burgett, explained that "It is essentially a bunch of cross sections that I offset vertically based on the elevation at that point on the map".

The energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) mapping of the cross-section of a single fiber confirms that the distribution of Pd/C@Ptskin catalysts and Nafion® ionomer matches well in the E-U electrode.
In addition to usual observations and phase identifications, carried out on gold-coated samples, the SEM was used for acquiring X-ray elemental maps of selected cross sections, operating at 20 kV acceleration voltage, and scanning a grid of 512 × 400 pixels with a dwell time of 300 ms.
The EDS-images in Figure 7 show the sulphur mapping of the cross-sections of the samples, where the sulphur signal is represented with the brighter areas.
Further, we simulate the strain-induced bandgap mapping in the cross section of the 40-nm wide GeNW shown in Fig. 6a.
