Under this scheme, all differentially expressed genes for two tissues, for example root and leaf, are given by the genes in the root (left) to leaf (bottom) cell plus the genes in the leaf (left) to root (bottom) cell.
For this, we normalized the number of reads mapped to each transcript per million (TPM) mapped for root and leaf tissues and considered transcripts to be expressed specifically in a single tissue (root or leaf) if they showed at least 3 TPM in the tissue of interest and zero in the other.
