Among the different marker technologies available to increase the density of a genetic linkage map, SNPs have attracted much interest, mainly for two reasons: Firstly, SNPs are the most abundant form of genetic variation [ 18] and occur at regular intervals in the genome [ 19].
In addition to SNPs surveyed here (BOPA1), three additional sets of SNPs have been mapped in barley genetic mapping populations (Rostoks et al. 2005; Close et al. 2009; Muñoz-Amatriaín et al. 2011).
A total of 542 SNPs have been mapped on the 10 linkage groups of B. rapa and 52 SNPs have been mapped in a region of LG A4, which we have recently shown to contain the tet-o locus that encodes the trait - tetralocular ovary [unpublished].
To date, nearly four thousand SNPs have been mapped to the disease/disorder status [8].
The current Porcine 60K Beadchip has 64,232 SNPs [5], and based on the current pig genome annotation, Sus scrofa (SSC) Build 9, a total of 55,446 of these SNPs have been mapped to a genomic location.
To date, 32 SNPs have been mapped within a 40,513-bp 40,513-bpntaining the human ELN gene.
SNPs have been mapped to their corresponding genes using dbSNP (build 139) and SCANdb.
SNPs have been mapped to their corresponding genes using dbSNP (build 139).
Both SNPs have been mapped ~4 cM distal to other SNPs located in the barley vernalization gene VRN-H2[ 20].
Until now, such high-density genetic maps, based on microsatellites and SNPs, have been computed for human [ 12], mouse [ 13], chicken [ 14, 15], cattle [ 16] and dog [ 17].
