After frozen storage (−20 to −30°C for 5 8 weeks), C. divergens and C. maltaromaticum seem to be particularly prominent in chilled MAP fish, as has been reported for cod, garfish, salmon, and tuna (Guldager et al., 1998; Emborg et al., 2002, 2005; Dalgaard et al., 2006).
However, spatially-delimited fishing effort data are needed to accurately map fishing hotspots, i.e., areas of intense fishing activity.
All information regarding the location or spatial extent of each fishery was used to map fishing effort.
We compiled a comprehensive database of fishing effort metrics and the corresponding spatial limits of fisheries and used a spatial analysis program (FEET) to map fishing effort density (measured as boat-meters per km2) in the coastal zones of six ocean regions.
One marker, G40280, was fully linked with no recombinant amongst the 46 mapping fish; the other two markers, z4396 and G39890, were less closely linked with 10 and 15 recombinants, respectively (Fig. 3A).
In spite of their high polymorphism, and low cost of single marker genotyping, an analysis of tens of thousands of microsatellites with a large number of mapping fish is extremely labourious and cost-prohibitive.
Sequences of BAC clones have been used frequently to perform comparative studies such as construction of shotgun contigs, analyses of copy number variants and of physical maps, FISH mapping between species, identification of genes involved in diseases or building of virtual genomes [ 2, 29- 36].

We have created markets where none existed, re-engineered off-the-map fishing villages into high-end holiday towns.
By mapping fishing effort for different fisheries, we have created a data layer that directly measures the spatially-explicit density of fishing activity across coastal zones.
Our approach to mapping fishing density provides a model for how fishing intensity and collateral impacts on coastal zones may be estimated.
