Aligning physical map contigs with sequenced genomes has proven informative in several ways [ 87, 90].
Of the 1534 physical map contigs with at least one successfully genotyped BES marker (Table 1), 1481 physical map contigs, approximately 69.6% of physical map contigs with microsatellites, were successfully integrated with the linkage map (Table 5).
This optical map consists of 11 optical map contigs, with an average of ~98X physical coverage, each of which represents a single chromosome with clearly defined telomeric ends.
On the other hand, recombination frequencies can be calculated for physical map contigs with multiple SNP markers mapped onto the linkage map.

This optical map was assembled from single molecule restriction maps into 14 optical map contigs, labeled as 12 chromosomes, with chromosome labels 6 and 11 both containing two optical map contigs.
