This event was clearly related to many important subsequent effects: first, we detected a decrease in the mRNA expression of SHH (82%), protein patched homolog 1 (PTCH1) (70%), and GLI-1 (41.7%), clearly related to the activation of SHH pathway, and β-catenin (55.6%) and axin 2 (82%), clearly related to the activation of Wnt/ β-catenin pathway, in iNEU4 U-GSCs.
It is important to note that many important, nonlinear effects, at the expense of analytical tractability, were excised in making the linear, weakly activated cascade approximation.
Among the many important biological effects mediated by GCs is the potent and selective induction of lymphoid-cell apoptosis, which underpins their therapeutic use in lymphoid malignancies.
Theoretical studies have shown that many important biological effects can be adequately modelled as simple processes of information transfer on top of assumptions of equilibrium concentrations of metabolites and thus pathways have been successfully examined in this fashion [ 13- 15].
