Just like on any user-generated content platform, many will also spend hours creating guides, if they happen to be a mom who painstakingly comes up with original recipes for her children with no appreciation, but manages to accumulate 1,000+ appreciative followers on Snapguide or this random "Cook With Micho" guy who I'm pretty sure is Greek.
Instead of thinking about putting stores together to please their users like Google does, Amazon is trying to build a coherent content platform with many ways to consume content — subscriptions, rentals, Kindle Singles, Kindle Serials, etc. — and believes in that goal.

Starz has been aggressive in pushing out its owned, distributed, and original content through many alternative platforms, including iTunes, XBox, PlayStation, Hulu, and YouTube.

The startup's founder Philippe Honigman says that there are so many social platforms that users store content, whether it be YouTube Videos, Facebook photos, documents and more, and there needs to be centralized, organized place where people can actually see all this content in one place.
