Pablo Medina, the manager of La Cienega Firestone, an independent dealer in Los Angeles, said the recall had left many consumers concerned about all Firestone products.
"I've never seen so many consumers concerned about job security," says Britt Beemer, president of America's Research Group, a retail industry tracker.
Perhaps most important, managed care has shifted many consumers' concern from cost to quality.
Rice is a staple crop, and many consumer concerns have arisen regarding the existence of transgenes in such crops and the food chain in general.
As analysts at Deutsche Bank, who rate SSL shares a buy, put it in a recent note: "The average consumer takes just seven seconds to make their condom product selection and many consumers are concerned about the quality of the product, due to the potential severity of the consequences of failure".
Many consumers are concerned, confused, and frustrated by the all the noise in the industry telling them what to do, what not to do, how to do it, and how not to do it.
"Many consumers are concerned with helping solve the most important environmental issue of our time – protecting our planet from the threats of climate change," said Matt McRae, vice president of marketing at Fabrik.
"Like many consumers, I am concerned by the seriousness and scope of Toyota's recent recall announcements," Mr. Waxman said in a statement.
Of course, when it comes to making ethical food decisions, many consumers are also concerned about animal welfare.
"I'm most concerned about unthinking acceptance of convenient short term solutions". For instance, many consumers claim to be concerned about data privacy — who knows your details, and what they're allowed to do as a result — but faced with offers of convenience, most people actively or passively cede control.
"Many consumers say they are concerned about the environment, but when they find out how much a green vehicle is going to cost, their altruistic inclination declines considerably," John Humphrey, an SVP at J.D. Power, said in a statement.
